The Integrated Action Plan (IAP) for Selected Tribal and Backward Districts under the BRGF program will cover 60 districts (listed in Annexure-I). The IAP will be implemented with a block grant of Rs.25 crore and Rs.30 crore per district during 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively. A Committee headed by the District Collector / District Magistrate and consisting of the Superintendent of Police of the District and the District Forest Officer will be responsible for the implementation of this scheme. The District-level Committee will have the flexibility to spend the amount for development schemes according to need as assessed by it.

The Border Area Development Programme (BADP) was started during the Seventh Plan with the twin objectives of balanced development of sensitive border areas in the Western region through adequate provision of infrastructure facilities and promotion of a sense of security amongst the local population. The programme was revamped in the Eight Plan (1993-94) and extended to States, which have an international border with Bangladesh. The nature of the Programme was changed from a schematic programme with an emphasis on education to a State level Programme with an emphasis on the balanced development of border areas. During the Ninth Plan, the programme has been further extended to States, that border Myanmar, China, Bhutan and Nepal, and the Programme at present covers all the seventeen States, which share international borders with the neighbouring countries.
