WHEREAS the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) adopted the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration in 1985; AND WHEREAS the General Assembly of the United Nations has recommended that all countries give due consideration to the said Model Law, in view of the desirability of uniformity of the law of arbitral procedures and the specific needs of international commercial arbitration practice; AND WHEREAS the UNCITRAL adopted the UNCITRAL Conciliation Rules in 1980;
An Act to consolidate and amend the law for the limitation of suits and other proceedings and for purposes connected therewith. This Act may be called the Limitation Act, of 1963. It shall come into force on such date1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
Nothing herein contained shall affect the provisions of any Statute, Act, or Regulation not hereby expressly repealed, nor any usage or custom of trade, nor any incident of any contract, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act. In this Act, the following words and expressions are used in the following senses unless a contrary intention appears from the context:—
