The States/UTs are required to take up a time-bound participatory Planning exercise followed by other relevant activities to ensure timely preparation of a realistic Laboure Budget that may be Pragmatically considered by the Empowered Committee i=of the Ministry as per the following suggested timeline viz.

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) aims at providing pucca houses, with basic amenities, to all rural houseless households and those households living in kutcha and dilapidated houses, by 2022. While achieving this huge target, to promote the use of region-specific appropriate construction technologies in the construction of PMAY-G houses, Framework for Implementation-PMAY-G (FFI-PMAYG) emphasizes that the beneficiary should be assisted with options of house designs according to local conditions, using appropriate technologies suitable to the region of their residence.

This report is an edited and consolidated version of the two reports prepared separately by the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and the CEPT University, Ahmedabad for the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Road safety is one of the major area of concern of the last decade. RWD has now developed the first Road Safety Action Plan for Rural Roads in Bihar. It aims to improve safety and reduce trauma on Bihar’s rural roads. This Road Safety Action Plan for Rural Roads is a part of our effort to reduce road trauma in Bihar. Our aim is to become a model state with respect to rural road safety in India.

The State of Bihar has accumulated a vast resource of roads with a total network of about 1.40 lakh km. About 87 per cent of this is under the jurisdiction of the Rural Works Department, Govt. of Bihar. i.e. around 128,809 km of Rural Roads with a total asset value estimated at around Rs 57,000 Cr. Of these, many have been built and paved under various schemes (primarily PMGSY and MMGSY) managed through the Bihar Rural Road Development Agency (BRRDA).
