IRC:99-1988 was entitled “Tentative Guidelines on the Provision of Speed Breakers for Control of Vehicular Speeds on Minor Roads”. This document has been reviewed and revised. The revised document is IRC:99 with the title “Guidelines for Traffic Calming Measures in Urban & Rural Areas”. The task of revision of IRC:99 was assigned to Road Safety and Design Committee (H-7). The revised draft was prepared by the Subgroup comprising Dr. Geetam Tiwari, Shri Jacob George, Shri S.K. Marwah, Shri R.R.D Kirori, and Mrs. Bina C. Balakrishnan. The draft was deliberated in a series of meetings. The H-7 Committee finally approved the draft document in its meeting held on 25th September 2017 and decided to send the final draft to IRC for placing before the HSS Committee.

This Act may be called the National Highways Authority of India (Amendment) Act, 2013. In section 3 of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988, for sub-section (3), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:—

The National Environment Policy, 2006 is the outcome of extensive consultations with experts in different disciplines, Central Ministries, Members of Parliament, State Governments, Industry Associations, Academic and Research Institutions, Civil Society, NGOs, and the Public. We acknowledge and appreciate the keen interest and concern with which they reviewed earlier drafts of this policy and offered inputs and feedback for its improvement. A great deal of published research literature has also been reviewed. We find ourselves unable to acknowledge the respondents individually or provide specific citations of the literature. Many of them will, no doubt, recognize their contributions in the document.
